About the Item
Suggestiva scultura lignea raffigurante figura femminile, probabilmente una Maddalena, realizzata in area norditaliana agli inizi del XVIII secolo. L’opera, intagliata in legno, dorata e policromata, presenta una resa plastica di grande espressività, soprattutto nella veste movimentata e profondamente incisa, con pieghe ampie e dinamiche che conferiscono vitalità e ritmo alla figura.
La donna, a figura intera e priva delle braccia, è rappresentata con una gamba scoperta in posizione avanzata, elemento che richiama iconografie devozionali legate al tema del Compianto o a scene altoriformi di altare, in cui la Maddalena era spesso raffigurata con atteggiamento penitente e drammatico. La doratura si conserva in modo stabile e omogeneo, con una patina intensa che ne valorizza l’antichità. Si segnalano tracce di attacchi xilofagi avvenuti in passato, oggi completamente inattivi e stabilizzati. Dimensioni: altezza 46 cm, profondità 10 cm.
