About the Item

A c1935, Art Deco period terracotta figural sculpture titled "TORSO" by Waylande Gregory (1905-1971). This hand-sculpted, unique work is cold painted a lovely greige tone with fleshy highlights. I acquired this sculpture from the Gregory estate approximately 15 years ago. Gregory's works are in the collections of many noted American museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
