Vintage Life Size Bronze Roman Armoured Officer on Horseback 20th Century

About the Item

This is a beautiful ornately decorated Vintage life size bronze sculpture of a heavily armored Roman Cavalry officer on horseback, riding triumphantly into battle, dating from the late 20th Century. The armour is decorated in high relief with symbols of angelic maidens, phoenixes, goblins, wolfs, winged horses and eagles. The warrior has a cavalry parade helmet with eagle and feathered crest. This high quality hot cast solid bronze was produced using the traditional "lost wax" process, otherwise known as the "cire perdue" method. There is no mistaking the unique design and quality of this gorgeous bronze warrior on horseback and it is sure to receive the maximum amount of attention wherever it is placed. Condition This sculpture is in really superb condition, please see photographs for confirmation. Dimensions in cm: Height 216 cm x Width 270 cm x Depth 100 cm Dimensions in inches: Height 7 feet, 1 inch x Width 8 foot, 10 inches x Depth 3 foot, 3 inches Lost Wax Method sometimes called by the French name of cire perdue or the Latin, cera perduta is the process by which a bronze or brass is cast from an artists sculpture. In industrial uses, the modern process is called investment casting. An ancient practice, the process today varies from foundry to foundry, but the steps which are usually used in casting small bronze sculptures in a modern bronze foundry are generally quite standardised.
