Vintage Whimsical Chalkware French or Italian Falling Chef Figurine or Sculpture

About the Item

This vintage whimsical figurine or sculpture is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in the United States in circa 1970 in a Modern cartoon style. The sculpture depicts a European chef slipping on on overturned frying pan and trying to balance or 'right' himself with an outstretched hand. The figurine is composed of a molded plaster or chalkware and hand painted in a realistic manner. This figurine was obtained from a bakery, where it sat on the counter since it opened in 1970.
