Livio de Marchi (1943-), Venetian sculptor, makes almost everything in everyday life from wood. Livio was born in Venice, where as a child he worked in an artisan's workshop on decorative sculptures in the Venetian tradition. At the same time he studied art and drawing at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. He showed great skills in shaping materials, transforming them with humor and panache and easily creating sculptures with beautiful details. During his artistic evolution he started with marble, then with bronze, and finally chose his favorite medium, wood.
