About

Beautiful expressive sculpture of "St. Genevieve" (The patron saint of Paris) by Danish artist Otto Bülow. The sculpture is roughly cut from a single block of aged oak and has a beautiful simple expression. Deep patina to the wood. Signed by artist. Otto Bülow was a Danish artist who was known for his wooden sculptures roughly carved from blocks of oak. He was killed by German nazis in 1944 during the occupation of Denmark in WW2. Bülow was a well known anti-nazi and was shot in his workshop while working. He was only 40 years old. The grave of Otto Bulow was marked with a heavy wooden cross carved from the same block that he had been working on the day he was killed.
