Italian 18th Century Blackamoor Doll
About the Item
His head is made of carved black bee's wax with inset realistic glass eyes. Wearing a separate hat with gold brocade trim and which can be removed to reveal authentic tightly-curled hair. An early example, probably from Venice or Naples, in very fine original condition. Blackamoors with wax heads and real hair from this period are exceptionally rare.
