Late 19th/Early 20th Century Carved Jade Mythical Bird Carving

About the Item

This nicely carved bird figure is done in an 18th-century style but is from the very late 19th century to early republic period. The stone is a soft mellow celadon green with dark brown inclusions. Carved on swirling waves the bird is alert and looking forward. The carving is good with deep and soft carving giving the form a pleasing appearance. The carving is raised up on a well-articulated rosewood base. The measurements below are overall, the jade carving itself is 5.25 long , 3.25 deep and 3.75 tall at the head.
