Rotating transparent acrylic sculpture by Rogelio Polesello, Argentina 1969
About the Item
Transparent acrylic sculpture by Rogelio Polesello, with a moving cubic center. This particular piece plays with optical illusion due to transparency and light bounces.
A little about Polesello:
Polesello's works combine geometric shapes with optical color effects to produce the illusion of movement. His first sculptures, dating from the 1950s, explore the effect of light on objects. He also transcended the limits of traditional painted surfaces, with his large Eclipse mural at the Ezeiza International Airport (Buenos Aires, 2001) and his paintings on cars, buildings and the human body. Polesello has exhibited his work at the 3rd Paris Biennale in 1963, the 8th Sao Paulo Biennial in 1965; at the Torcuato Di Tella Institute in 1967 and 1968; at the Center for Inter-American Relations in New York in 1968; at the National Museum of Fine Arts in 2000; at the Ruth Benzacaren gallery 2003; at the Recoleta Cultural Center in 2005 and at the National Museum of Fine Arts in 2012.
In 2003 he received the Grand Prize of Honor from the National Endowment for the Arts.
