About the Item

18th century Italian eucharist emblem fragment mounted on mica with garnets with a baroque pearl and topaz. The ecclesiastical fragment was original used to depict a symbol of the eucharist or monstrance as a decorative element in a historical church in Italy. It has IHS on the piece which in Latin means, "Jesus Savior of Humankind." It is adorned with the silver-grey baroque pearl and topaz which perfectly matches the color and form of the piece to look as though the piece evolved together over time. Together, the elements create a historical yet contemporary work of ecclesiastical significance. The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she created the piece and the period shows that the Italian hand-carved fragment is originally 18th century.
