About the Item

Branching Magnolia Series hanging sculpture by Elizabeth Lyons Inspired by nature, seventy-five hand sculpted glass magnolia blossoms in various stages of opening adorn a structure of solid forged and welded steel branches. The branches have been blackened with a patina and then sealed to emphasize the natural character of the forged metal. Elizabeth has designed and created this sculptural piece that acts as chandelier but is lit externally. When lit from above, dappled light is created on surfaces below as if the sun’s rays were passing through a canopy of magnolia branches. The light source for this sculpture is not included and it is recommended that recessed lighting be installed in the ceiling above the structure to illuminate the piece and the surface below. Recessed lighting is not included. These unique sculptural works have been used as a focal point in both home and commercial settings worldwide. Each piece is a unique reflection of Elizabeth's vision, one-of-a-kind, taking months to complete and transformative to any space. “I approach the design of lighting and decorative objects from a sculptural point of view. I like the idea of creating beautiful objects that have purpose in peoples’ spaces. Chandeliers that glow and cast beautiful light throughout a space are inspired by forms found in nature, and by the specific formal qualities of the materials, glass and steel. The inherent material qualities are central to all of my sculptural and functional work." 94" in length, 44" in width and 35" in height (This does not include hanging rod length.) ***Drop to be specified by purchaser. Custom hanging rods and standard mounting brackets will be fabricated upon purchase. Full drop measurement from ceiling will be required. Allow 5 weeks for completion. Must be installed by a licensed contractor and rated for 275 lbs. mounting brackets included. Appropriate fasteners supplied by installer. Glass shipped separately and fastened to structure after install.
