About the Item

Rectangular tile carved from white Carrara marble with inserts of red marble from France, probably made in the Veneto area during the 17th century. In the center of the composition is the figure of the Holy Spirit's dove, carved in relief in marble, now missing its head. The animal, with outstretched wings, is inserted within a crown of clouds, from which traces of metallic elements can still be seen: there was probably originally a golden ray symbolizing divine irradiation. The work has a shaped white marble frame with polychrome red marble inserts, following a typical 17th-century decorative practice in the Veneto area. Despite some gaps and ancient restorations, it retains a strong devotional and decorative suggestion, evidence of the plastic production related to sacred furnishings of the Baroque period. Dimensions: 27.5 × 22 cm - depth 11 cm. For more information, high-resolution photographs or technical details, please contact us.Worldwide shipping available with professional packaging.
