The sculpture takes the form of a seated dog or wolf with alert upright ears, finely incised facial detailing, and an open mouth showing stylized teeth. The animal sits upright on its haunches, holding in its forepaws a heraldic-style shield with a central boss and four bosses at the quadrants, as well as ring-turned accents simulating bolts or fittings.
