About the Item

Fantastic exploded clock sculpture in resin. This incredibly rare piece was designed by Pierre Giraudon in France during the 1970s. This item is amazing as it is an exploded clock sculpture, with all the components floating in crystal Lucite resin with an elegant and stunning effect, truly a clock collector's piece. This highly decorative sculpture is perfect to complete a sophisticated midcentury-style living room or a clock lover studio. Measures in cm: Diameter - 15 Pierre Giraudon was born in 1923. After a stay in Canada, he returned to France in 1949 and introduced the technique of resin inclusion casting. He was a well-known biologist and was the first to use products he invented specially for the purpose to encase plants, animals, and other subjects in resin for universities. During the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, he made sculptures, lamp bases, and objects out of coloured resin, with and without inclusions. At the same time, he was making these personal creations, he was also working for César. Yet he always declined to be called an artist, because he considered himself first and foremost a biologist. He passed away in 2012.

By Swiza

In 1975, the prestigious Swiss watch company Swiza chose this watch as the solitary protagonist of its magazine advertising campaign. You can see why. Modern and very unique, it features a nicely weighty gilt ball clock, an 8 day power with an alarm, that sits cradled on a very modern lucite base. The clock can stand without the lucite base, although you probably won't want to separate this duo. The sphere clock...
