About the Item

Designed by René-André Coulon, and entitled "Radiaver" this revolutionary design for a space heater which also has built in illumination boldly suggests the future. It is inscribed "SAINT-GOBAIN" on the base. Could be used as a tabletop sculpture. The electric cord has been removed so this is not a functioning heater. Similar example in the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY. The example there is described as "This glass radiator was designed by René-André Coulon (French, 1908-1997) for the well-known French glass manufacturer St. Gobain. It was first exhibited, with other glass furniture, at the 1937 Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne in Paris."
