Whale's Tooth mounted on custom acrylic base
About the Item
Origin: USA
Period: Miocene 5 to 25 Million Years ago
Livyatan melvillei is an extinct genus and species. They lived in the oceans and ate the same food as Carcharodon Megalodon, so they competed with large predatory sharks for food. The fossil skull of L. melvillei had a curved base, which may have housed a large organ, allowing it to dive deep to search for food by echolocation, with acoustic displays functioning as a resonance chamber and also to deliver headbutts, possibly against rival males or to strike prey. This whale was between 15 to 18 meters long.
With its elegant mounting on a custom acrylic base and its additional protection by means of a transparent box, this piece not only stands out for its beauty, but also for its uniqueness and historical value.
This art object offers a distinctive and unique touch that can transform any space, making it a point of conversation and admiration.
