About the Item

101.29 Gram Lovely Quartz Crystals From Skardu, Pakistan Weight: 101.29 Gram Dimension: 7 x 6.7 x 5.1 Cm Origin: Skardu, Pakistan Quartz is one of the most common minerals in the Earth's crust. As a mineral name, quartz refers to a specific chemical compound (silicon dioxide, or silica, SiO2), having a specific crystalline form (hexagonal). It is found is all forms of rock: igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary. Most quartz forms in either igneous rocks or environments with geothermal waters. In igneous rocks, quartz forms as magma cools. Like water turning into ice, silicon dioxide will crystallize as it cools. Slow cooling generally allows the crystals to grow larger. The name quartz may be derived from querkluftertz, an old German word referring to whitish vein quartz. The name has also been said to derive from the ancient Greek word krustallos, meaning, ice, because the Greeks (and the Romans) believed that quartz was ice that never melted because it was formed by the gods.
