Blue and Violet Tourmaline Crystal Specimen - Paprok, Afghanistan
About the Item
This striking tourmaline crystal has a mesmerizing blue color, a robust size, and sharp form. Upon first glance, the piece appears to have a dark, almost black cap, but when lit, its colors come alive with indigo and violet hues. The crystal’s beautiful colors and shing luster are accented by a matrix of thin, white blades of albite that have aggregated in dense rosettes. They have an almost featherlike appearance, adding a contrasting element to the specimen. Striking, colorful, and of great quality, it is a natural showpiece for any fine collection.

The Yaogangxian mine (whose name translates to, “Jade-Mountain god”) is located within a 4 x 2.5 km expanse of a tungsten-tin (W-Sn) deposit in the Hunan Province of China. Although the deposit has been mined since 1914 for ore, it has only recently been a source of collectible mineral specimens. Despite being among the newer finds in the mineral collecting world, YGX fluorites have distinguished themselves with their enchanting water-color blues, lilacs, and purples and propensity for good form.
This is a sculptural example made up of several cubic fluorite crystals...
