Deep Purple Amethyst Cluster with Calcite Surrounded by Agate

About the Item

An interesting and stunning amethyst cluster with a striking mineral and colour mix. In this aesthetic piece the edges have been polished to reveal layers of a vibrant green celadonite, blue-grey agate and white quartz, which frame the intense purple colour of the amethyst. The interior of the mineral sculpture is endowed with a gorgeous very deep purple amethyst formation, which contrasts with the green celadonite beautifully. The transition between the green celadonite and the amethyst is marked by layers of agate and white quartz. Like a cherry on top, a beautiful white calcite formation, stands out of the sparkling amethyst. The back of the piece maintains its rough condition with the exposure of the basalt. The exquisite piece is of a nice decorative size and is displayed on a beatiful metal stand. This piece was legally and ethically sourced directly in the prestigious mines of Uruguay, South America. Uruguayan amethyst is internationally recognised as being the finest and most aesthetic amethyst in the world, due to its intense deep purple colouration, the large size of its peaked crystals, and its durability. These crystals were formed over 120-140 million years during the Cretaceous period, and as all of our pieces are formed naturally, they are completely unique and unrepeatable natural wonders of art. Extraordinary Chinese Scholar Ying Stone on Stand with Collector Seal
Located in Atlanta, GA
On offer is a vertical Chinese scholar rock balanced on a carved wood display stand. The specimen is a wonderful example of Ying (or Yingde) stone, one of the four famed stone types known to Chinese literati and a less common type than Lingbi or Taihu. Gray in color, it has an extraordinary upright form rising from a small stem, like an "Avatar Mountain" peeking out of the mist. Visually it feels impossible for the stone to balance on its thin stem and the wood base. The illusion is due to the thickness of the depth which is not immediately visible from front or back. This type of exotic form was highly desired by the collector. The surface is remarkable with pronounced schisms, gullies, folding lines, with several formation of openings that give it a grotto and airy feel. Different sceneries are revealed when viewed from different angles, making this one of the most intriguing stones in Tishu Gallery...
