This thin slice of agate is translucent, and as you can see in the pictures, backlighting enhances and alters the color perspective of the agate, bringing out a blossoming golden hue. This process repeats, with each layer potentially containing different impurities that contribute to the variation in color we see in the agate's bands. To crown it all, in the final stages of its evolution, blue lace agate formed, allowing only white layers to develop in its center.
