Extraordinary shell coral, cabinet piece collector's item, mid-century, Italy

About the Item

This wonderful object is reminiscent of the cabinets of curiosities in castles and palaces in the Renaissance period. People wanted to own and exhibit rarities. This highly decorative cabinet piece is a decoration for any interior. The main focus is on the large shell, with beautiful mother of pearl. With this backdrop two types of corals are shown - red and white. It sits enthroned on a beautifully crafted wooden column. The natural shell is in impressive condition, the mother of pearl shimmers in different colours beautifully in the light. There are additional small shells underneath the nautilus to decorate the transition from the column to the nautilus. Measurement approximately: height 13,58 in – 34,5 cm, width 5,51 in – 14 cm, depth 3,35 in – 8,5 cm An exceptionally decorative piece with history that will decorate any interior.
