About the Item

Beautifully handcrafted, traditional African bronze sculpture. If you are looking for a unique and beautifully handcrafted bronze sculpture to grace your living space then this traditional African male water carrier could be perfect for you. We date it to circa 1960-1980 and over the decades it has grown a marvelous patina which makes this cool inhabitant of the African savannah look even more authentic. Both the bronze ropes and water vessels can be taken off which makes this tall and relatively heavy bronze sculpture easy and safe to ship. Unfortunately, we found no signature on this work of art so we don't know if this bronze was handcrafted in Africa or in Europe. What we do know is that it must have taken a skilled artisan a heck of a long time to first hand-sculpt this sizable African male out of some sort of clay and then have him completely cast in bronze using one or possibly multiple molds. The bronze ropes and water vessels obviously were sculpted and cast in separate molds. This tall, slender and fully equipped water carrier really has a wonderful presence of his own and because of his size and majestic posture he will never fail to impress.
