Hildoceras Yorkshire, England Ammonite & Bronze Stand

About the Item

A magnificent example of a classic Jurassic ammonite from the North Yorkshire coastline of North East England. Now suspended on THE FOSSIL STORE™ custom AES bronze stand series for spaces out there!  A rare large ammonite of its type and the conservation process has also been sympathetically undertaken to present this superb display. A crisp and clear scientific aspect of the fossil specimen and its aesthetic make it an excellent representation of the original article and the renowned Yorkshire coast Hildoceras ammonite measuring 23.8 CM in height, including the stand.  The geological periods are subdivided into aeon's, era's, periods and epoch's stages or ages, and further subdivided into zones or horizons; this fossil Ammonite is from the upper lias horizon of the lower Jurassic period, a period around 180,000,000 years ago. So, we can identify the age division as the Toarcian stage, which spanned 174,000,000 to 183,000,000 years ago. Within this stage are as many as nineteen horizons to identify the stratigraphic time zones further and pinpoint the story of the Ammonite; the specimen featured here is intertwined with that story of northern European ammonoid development. Hildoceras Ammonite: Hildoceras is an ammonite genus from the Jurassic era in the family Hildoceratidae.  The details Genus: Hildoceras ammonite [Family Hildoceratidae]
