Huge Pristine Gogotte Formation
$205,000

About
This spectacular gogotte was finely modelled by the movement of silica-rich water through loose sand. The thick swirls and folds of sparkling sandstone roll into one another to create an intriguing and dynamic composition. Imposing yet extraordinarily intricate, this gogotte was nicknamed "Catalyse" ("catalysis") after the impression of swift movement and sudden growth it evokes, reminiscent of this chemical process of acceleration.
Each gogotte is a unique masterpiece fashioned by the hands of Nature. The arresting forms of these sandstone concretions have fascinated their beholders for centuries, from King Louis XIV who kept them in his garden at Versailles, to the English sculptor Henry Moore who owned his own example.
"The eye is the chief means whereby the understanding may most fully and abundantly appreciate the infinite works of nature."
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)
