About the Item

Large Ammonite, Rare Pachylytoceras Dilicidum Species, 190-200 Million Years Old apx. This is a beautiful, multicolor fossil specimen, probably found in France. The leafy patterns and the dark burguny, reds, oranges, coral-pinks, yellows, and golden colors are stunning. Bits of green here and there add even more layers of contrast. One side has most of the darkest colors and a lot of texture-which we absolutely love--the other side has a more golden color with splashes of other colors and is more smooth. The specimen weighs almost 11 pounds and measures approximately 11 x 8 x 3 inches. You may choose to display it by leaning it in a secure space with caution, or perhaps having a special base made just for this beautiful ammonite would be preferred and would further highlight its beauty. (Note: The darker side of the specimen looks a bit more bright orangey than in some of the photos than it is in person due to natural light coming in to the building. In person it is a bit deeper orange with deep burgundy along with the other colors mentioned previously.) Since this is a prehistoric fossil it will show its age (of course!) potentially such as cracks, pits, etc. We do our best to find the nicest possible items with the least bothersome imperfections and point out any concerning ones. This unique specimen does have pits, but this is not unusual especially in larger, heavier ammonite specimens. think this specimen is simply beautiful. ***Please note that a stand is *not* included for reasons of safety. 1) Shipping metals with fragile items is too risky in our opinion, and 2) We feel it's best for each specimen to be fitted with a stand just right for its size, weight, and fragility whereas our stands are for photographs, not long-term display.*** General Information: Measurements are approximate and generally represent the highest, widest, and thickest areas of an item. Species and where discovered are estimated based on available comparisons, research of others, and/or the source from which we obtained the specimen as we are not fossil experts. Please expect that prehistoric items such as fossils may have signs of wear, use, or need for cleaning. Some may also have had repairs/restorations or have been sealed for preservation's sake. Please be aware that the color on your monitor and/or in your environment may look slightly different than in ours, so color is not guaranteed to be exact. Please also keep in mind that vintage and older items usually will show some indication of previous ownership and handling. Buyers of vintage and older items are presumed to understand and accept these. Since we do not do returns, please feel free to send questions if you have any before your purchase and we will be pleased to respond. #Ammonite #NaturalSpecimen #PachylytocerasDilicidum #leafypattern #rarefossil #extinctfossil #fossil #uniquespecimen #collectorsitem #extinctfossilspecimen #ammonitefossil #ammonite #france #Decor #frenchdecor #naturalworld #naturalspecimen #fossils #Jurassic #collectorsitem #rareammonite #prehistoric #extinct #ocean #sea
