A striking large natural bedrock specimen with a coating of chrysocolla and malachite displayed on a custom neoclassical style stand. This specimen is of an unusual irregular shape stands well showcasing its vivid colours and platelike form. Originating from the Congo, it displays a complex mix of vibrant green and blue known as cyan colour. Typically found as botryoidal or rounded masses and crusts, or vein fillings, such as this one, malachite is the more frequently associated mineral to the chrysocolla out of this part of the world. A natural specimen such as this is harder to come by than the polished versions. This spectacular mineral specimen is ideal for use as natural sculpture in an interior, making a striking decorative piece for a collector’s cabinet or sideboard, showcasing a wondrous specimen of natural history.
