A large natural silky or fibrous malachite originating from Congo. Silky Malachite, which is a copper ore, is known for its rosette crystalline formation, and are often sparkling in appearance. This exceptional mineral has a striking form that has been moulded by nature over thousands of years. It showcases a rich green colour with areas of darker shades. This specimen is an impressive sculptural piece for an interior display or collectors cabinet. More on silky malachite Silky Malachite was one of the first ores used to produce Copper metal. While, rich in colour, appearance and habit is considered important for these specimens. Silky is known for being fairly difficult to obtain compared to other types of malachite. The vivid green colour, bright polished lustre, banding and eyes of malachite make it very popular as a gemstone. It is cut into polished decorative ornaments, used to produce beads, sliced into inlay material, sculpted into ornamental objects, and used to manufacture tumbled stones.
