About the Item
Lazurite, also known as Afghanite, is a rich blue sodalite mineral only found in Afghanistan and makes up the blue phase of lapis lazuli. Lazurite was used historically in pigments for painting and in jewelry. This incredible specimen from Bakdakhstan displays one huge (1-1/2" diameter) and beautifully formed lazurite crystal on a contrastingly pale marble matrix all with accents of lustrous gold pyrite for a luxurious finish. A distinguished collector's piece.
