About the Item
A superior grade of Malachite crystal series prepared in-house and presented on a brass stand series, created for luxe settings within your home. Green-banded Malachite crystallises in the monoclinic crystal system and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses, found within fractures and deep underground earth cavities where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation.
Malachite has been treasured for its beauty and utility since ancient times. Its use dates back to around 4000 BCE, when it was mined in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and fashioned into jewellery, amulets, and pigments. The mineral was also highly valued by the ancient Greeks and Romans for decorative objects and as a talisman believed to ward off evil. During the Renaissance, malachite became a popular material for art and inlays, and in 19th-century Russia, it adorned the interiors of grand palaces such as the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Its striking colour and banded patterns continue to make it a favourite in jewellery and ornamental design today.
