Free Form African Malachite specimen mounted in original design acrylic display

About the Item

Rock in a Box is an original design by Ernesto Duran that celebrates three key aspects of displaying minerals and fossils. First, it creates a vanishing point that enhances the piece's natural beauty. Second, it showcases the fossil or mineral in its original position as found, allowing for a unique perspective on how it was discovered and offering flexibility in display angles. Finally, it provides a modern and versatile way to present the piece, seamlessly fitting into various atmospheres within your home. Origin: Zaire, Africa Its name comes from the Latin malachites, in allusion to its color. It is currently used more as a semi-precious stone. It has been among the favorites of kings and nobles for centuries. Malachite has been a highly prized stone in clothing, as well as in the decoration of great palaces because it was believed that the brilliance of the gemstone was a true reflection of the intelligence of its owner. Today, the main mining deposits are in Zaire. In this collection we present some free form malachites mounted in original design acrylic base.
