About the Item

Purple Fluorapatite with Tourmaline Golconda pegmatite field, Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil 7.1cm tall X 5.7cm wide This unique apatite and tourmaline are a minimalist sculpture consisting of two elongated, crystalline structures arranged in a T-shape. The vertical element is a tall translucent lavender apatite crystal with subtle striations. The horizontal element is a slender tourmaline crystal in a deep, dark blue-black shade, intersecting the apatite at its termination. The overall composition is clean and geometric, emphasizing the natural textures and colors of the crystals. Purple colored apatite is highly sought after and considered one of the most desirable hues for the species. This striking color occurs only in select localities across the globe. This particular specimen, featuring this rare and captivating lavender shade, was discovered in the 1990s. The tourmaline which crosses at the apex of the apatite crystal is dark but transparent and is doubly terminated. It is this type of specimen that we like to offer to collectors as it is a “once seen, never forgotten” example. We offer collectors unique specimens that leave a lasting impression. Ex-collections Keith Proctor, Gene Meieran & Steve Smale
