Red, Pink, & Green Watermelon Tourmaline Slice— Anjanabonoina, Madagascar

About the Item

Tourmaline is celebrated not only for its vitreous beauty, but also for its unparalleled spectrum of colors and color combinations, earning its place among the most vibrant gemstones on Earth. What sets tourmaline apart is its ability to display multiple colors within a single crystal, a highly sought-after characteristic. This is a slice of the subvariety, liddicoatite, known for its astonishingly kaleidoscopic interior and its propensity for unique growth patterns. Expert cutting and polishing of this crystal cross-section has revealed a mesmerizing tapestry of vivid colors, with a prominent, deeply saturated core of rich cranberry color, enveloped by a vibrant pink band. This captivating core is further accentuated by slender alternating bands of pink and colorless zones, which then become thin outer zones of chartreuse and olive. The precision of these color zones is truly remarkable. When lit, the piece resembles a glowing window of stained glass. Vivid and attractive, this would make a beautiful addition to any space. This piece comes with a bespoke stand ready for display. Item reference: #18198.

Seafoam Green Fluorite Crystal Mineral Specimen – Dongpo Ore Field, China
Located in Edison, NJ
This is an attractive example from the Dongpo Ore Field of China. The best Dongpo fluorites are known for translucent crystals with great form and an attractive light green tone. This is a prime example featuring three sharp, cuboctahedral crystals in a saturated, seafoam green tone. The fluorites have multi-stepped faces along their sides and central faces that are smooth, acting like windows into the translucent crystals. The crystals’ lustrous sheen further highlights their intricate structure. They have formed atop a contrasting matrix (host-rock) of bladed, beige dolomite crystals. The dolomite is sharp and has formed in dense intergrown rosettes. Peeking out from under the dolomite and fluorites is a shimmering matrix of druzy, white quartz that frames the piece overall. The juxtaposition of textures, colors, and species makes the already colorful fluorite crystals...
