Small Italian Limestone Bas Relief Plaque, Crinkled Ribbon and Fruit Carvings

About the Item

Hand-carved in Italy, this small limestone plaque depicts a bas-relief display of flowers, fruit, and leaves accompanied by a crinkled ribbon bow. The ends of the ribbon gracefully trail down, encircling the top half of the bouquet. Contained within the fabric is a large fruit with two leaves above three quadrilobed flowers. Three more closed flowers and a large leaf can be seen below the opened flowers. All of these low-relief images have been carved onto the recessed main body, which is surrounded by a thick border. The gray limestone has developed a wonderful, mottled patina that accents the stone with elements of black, white, and gold. Our small bas relief plaque would make a decorative architectural for a garden, patio, or even indoors.
