About the Item

This authentic Spinosaurus vertebra fossil originates from the world-renowned Kem Kem Formation in the Sahara Desert of Morocco, a region celebrated for yielding some of the most iconic and scientifically important dinosaur fossils known to science. Dating back approximately 97.5 to 95 million years, from the Upper Albian to Upper Turonian stages of the Cretaceous period, this specimen represents a direct connection to one of prehistory’s most extraordinary predators. Spinosaurus aegyptiacus, meaning “spined reptile,” remains one of the largest known carnivorous dinosaurs – outmatching even Tyrannosaurus rex in total length. This genuine fossil vertebra displays excellent definition, with visible bone texture and natural mineralization that highlight its prehistoric origin. Its reddish-brown coloration, a result of fossilization within the iron-rich sands of the Sahara, adds striking visual depth and character. This specimen is a scientifically significant and visually compelling piece of natural history, ideal for serious fossil collectors, museums, and educational institutions. As both a tangible relic of deep time and a striking display piece, it offers a rare chance to own a part one of the world’s very largest known terrestrial predators. Weight: 124 g
