STILBITE, CALCITE, AND APOPHYLLITE ON CRYSTAL BASE Studio Greytak’s Stilbite, Calcite, and Apophyllite on Crystal Base is a trio of Norse matronae, mythical goddesses sent to provide comfort, protection, and peace. A soft bed of blue apophyllite anchors the piece with deeply soothing energy. Fan-like crystals of lustrous, pink stilbite arise from swells of apophyllite to filter negative energies and quiet the mind. The solid planes and angles of translucent, golden calcite add gentle pragmatism, a motherly focus on stability and order. A dusting of druse, the gemstone of heaven, sparkles in the light and adds a sweet note of harmony. The quartz crystal base, a bridge between the human and spiritual world, amplifies the power of the stones above. Stilbite is a product of gentle thermal activity. Warm, mineral-rich groundwaters rise and recede, leaving behind the elements that bond to form creamy-colored gems. Though it appears to be solid, stilbite is actually built like an exceptionally fine sieve, allowing only the tiniest particles from outside to flow through, a characteristic that echoes its healing properties. Stilbite filters the negative energies that dull one’s natural spiritual shine, purifying the environment and calming the spirit. It is also a powerful dreaming stone, allowing the subconscious mind to explore possibilities that seem impossible in the light of day. Calcite embodies maternal bedrock, a strong and stable foundation that is also celebrated for its variety of beautiful forms. Calcite is the basis for seashells, coral, and plankton in the sea. It makes up the famous Carrera marble from Italy and Limestone cliffs in Iowa. It forms draperies in Mitchell Caverns, California, and forms the White Cliffs of Dover. Calcite is said to speed development and growth. It connects the emotions with the intellect and, like its physical properties, is rightfully called the stabilizing stone. It is said that nothing relieves stress as quickly or as gently as the watery mineral apophyllite. Looking like blocky coral from a clear Caribbean Sea, apophyllite has an abundance of water molecules, which make it a good conductor of energies and vibrations, and its spiritual followers claim that it provides a path for the visions of the angels to find us. This is a sweet and gentle stone that brings faith and trust in the Divine and an abundance of purity to one’s physical realm. Rock crystal, or crystal quartz, has captivated humanity for thousands of years. Cultures around the world regarded it as an intermediary between the visible and invisible worlds, capable of producing visions and enhancing clairvoyance. Since antiquity, traditional healers have called this form of quartz the “master healer” because it amplifies the power of other elements nearby. Crystal quartz is a stone of light, providing a clear path for higher vibrations from spiritual realms to the physical world. Equal parts nurturing and mesmerizing, this piece is a powerful antidote to life’s most vulnerable moments.
