Rare Counter Top Cigar Store Trade Figure
About the Item
Very rare counter top cigar store trade figure, depicting a barefoot young black man, holding a cigarette, the burgeoning fashion of the time. An accomplished, fully developed carving, retaining it's rarely found untouched original painted surfaces. Carved from a single piece of pine, with it's original iron base hook, from where he was, no doubt, secured to the counter, or outdoor stand. Minor, age appropriate overall paint loss, as shown, with early, minor glue repair of two fingers.
