About the Item

Sculpted from a block of boldly grained walnut, this depiction of a barnyard cockerel, in all his prideful finery, was carved in a strong, Art Deco manner by George Laurent. The mass and planes of the rooster's body, and the details of the feathers around his feet, are given a bold, stylized shape that is highly reminiscent of the best animaliers of the 1920s and 1930s.
