Miguel Estrella is a member of the Seri Indians of Sonora, Mexico. Formerly a fishing tribe, ecological disturbances had forced the tribe to seek other means of support. Iron wood, a once thriving tree in Sonora was their medium of choice for these wonderful carvings. The plaque on this female iron wood abstract reads, Miguel Estrella: Alegre, Caoba 93.
