Vintage Swedish Nude Bronze Sculpture by Arvid Kallstrom, circa 1954
Bronze female nude by noted Swedish sculptor Arvid Hallstrom (1893-1967). Foundry mark on base.
Kallstrom studied early in his career in Copenhagen with the famous Danish sculptor Kai Nielsen. Nielsen was known for his reverence of and talent for the female form and instilled the same appreciation in Kallstrom. He then went on to Paris where is studied for many years and later traveled and studied all over Europe. He returned to Sweden in 1934 where he continued to make a name for himself as a highly skilled sculptor, specializing in fine art and public sculptures. His work can be seen today all over Sweden in public parks, schools and churches and in the collections of the lucky few who own his smaller works of art such as this.
In Paris Arvid Källström exhibited at the Saloon and the Salon des Realités Nouvelles. He also participated in exhibitions at Charlottenborg and Den Frie Udstilling in Copenhagen and at Liljevalch´s Hall of Art in Stockholm.
