18th Century French Palais Royal Perfume Bottle
$2,200

About the Item
Either French or Italian, and most likely another keepsake from the Grand Tour.
In our opinion it is French Palais Royale style.
The gold (we think is 14 carat gold plating) filigree work is stunning. The sides have gold filigree branches that fall down the sides of the Bottle, encasing it, with gold pearl like carvings to simulate pearl drops.
The lid is fabulous gold filigree or repousse work, again simulating pearls and stringing (ropes), to simulate a domed or crowned lid which is hinged. To add to the crown effect the lid is inlaid with what we believe to be diamond cut green gems, possibly Tourmalines,
circa 1790-1800.
