Antique Edwardian English Silver Plated & Cut Crystal 3 Bottle Tantalus and Key
About the Item
This silver plated three bottle tantalus has no maker's marks, but is presumed to have originated from England and date to approximately 1900 and done in the period Edwardian style. The tantalus is composed of silver plate with a sturdy locking spring loaded mechanism which opens when the key is turned. The three bottles are done in a heavy cut crystal with faceted ball stoppers. Please note the crystal bottle presented in the middle of each photograph is a bit smaller and lighter than the outer two which we believe is a replacement.

- Condition:Replacements made: The middle cut crystal bottle in the center of each photo is about one half inch narrower and lighter than the outer two and is presumed to have been a replacement. It appears to be the same height as the other two, so it does fit into the tantalus. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Some surface wear to the silver plating and some light wear to the stoppers. One stopper has a small chip on the stem as presented in the photos, and consistent with age and use.
