About the Item

Rare Art Deco Ruba Rombic Jungle Green Glass Decanter by Reuben Haley for Consolidated Glass – Geometric Cubist Design, 1920s-30s This striking Ruba Rombic decanter in vivid Jungle Green glass is a rare and iconic example of Art Deco design by Reuben Haley for the Consolidated Glass Company, produced circa 1928–1932. With its bold, angular silhouette and crystalline geometry, the piece is a standout of the American response to European design movements—drawing comparisons to the work of René Lalique, Etling, and other masters of early 20th-century cubist and architectural glass. Reuben Haley, a visionary American designer, created the Ruba Rombic line as a dramatic departure from traditional glassware—embracing fractured, asymmetric forms that reflected the excitement and tension of the Machine Age. Produced in a short run by Consolidated Glass of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, these pieces were never mass-market items and remain highly sought after by collectors for their rarity, daring design, and historical importance. This decanter features a brilliant Jungle Green hue, one of the most desirable Ruba Rombic colors, with no condition issues to the body. The original stopper shows only minor fleabites and the presence of small air bubbles—common characteristics of the era’s hand-pressed glass manufacturing process, and not considered flaws. Highly collectible and increasingly rare, this piece is a museum-worthy example of American Art Deco glass at its most sculptural and avant-garde—perfect for collectors of decorative arts, design history, or period interiors.
