About the Item

A pair of modern Murano glass bottles, attributed to Cenedese and dating to around 1990, showcasing the elegant balance of simplicity and craftsmanship for which Murano glassmakers are renowned. Formed with a tubular body and neck, each bottle is realised in a vivid red Murano glass, accented by a bold, applied stripe of deep black glass. The surface is finished in a distinctive scavo glass technique, giving it a matte, textured quality evocative of ancient artefacts brought to light after centuries underground. Yet unlike many examples, these bottles display a particularly uniform and deliberate scavo texture, reflecting the meticulous skill of the artisan and the modern aesthetic sensibilities emerging in late 20th-century Murano glass design. Standing 24 cm tall with a diameter of 12 cm, they remain in good vintage condition, bearing minor shadowing from previous handling that does not diminish their overall character. These bottles would sit confidently as striking decorative accents within a modern interior, or form part of a discerning collection of Murano collectible glass, speaking to the enduring dialogue between traditional techniques and contemporary design in Italian glass art.
