About the Item

This very rare Bottle is attributed to Paul Ysart, a Scottish glass artist known for his work in millefiori and paperweight techniques. The piece is executed in clear glass, encasing a close-pack millefiori arrangement at the base, consisting of tightly clustered canes in red, white, blue, and yellow. The stopper, made of solid clear glass, features an internal reflection of the millefiori design, mirroring the decorative elements within the body. The bottle's structure includes a rounded, dome-like body with a slightly flared base. The millefiori decoration at the bottom is composed of numerous individual glass canes arranged in a dense pattern, with outer canes forming a defined border. The smooth, polished surface of the glass enhances the clarity of the enclosed decoration, creating a magnifying effect. The stopper follows a similar design, with its domed top reflecting the millefiori pattern when viewed from above. Paul Ysart was renowned for his meticulous lampwork and paperweight techniques, producing glass objects that demonstrated precision in cane arrangement and encasement. His works often featured controlled designs with high clarity and a refined finish. This bottle aligns with his known output, incorporating millefiori decoration within a functional form, a characteristic seen in select examples attributed to his studio.
