Art Nouveau Perfume Bottle with Ornate Sterling Overlay c. 1890's
About the Item
This beautiful piece of functional art is a gorgeous reflection of the Art Nouveau era from which it came. Used primarily as a perfume bottle, this stunning work of art was created by applying hot sterling silver over glass, creating ornate patterns that enveloped the piece in a lacy draping fashion. This particular piece has an area for monogramming to personalize the piece. In this instance, the monogram window is untouched and available to be customized. The stopper is fixed in place. As with many of these particular pieces of art, due to the manner in which they were created, many suffered interior fractures to the glass. This bottle has such cracks, however, they are confined to the inside surface only. This piece would make the perfect gift for that person with discerning taste or a wonderful addition to a counter top or shelf display.
