This Mid Century Modern glass decanter set was produced by Vetri Empoli in Tuscany during the 1960s. The ensemble includes a generously rounded decanter with a wide neck, paired with four matching cups, all executed in hand-blown glass featuring a striking tortoiseshell pattern. The warm brown and amber tones catch the light beautifully, highlighting the artisanal craftsmanship that makes this set both functional and decorative.
Unlike Murano’s Venetian production, Vetri Empoli established its own distinctive identity with innovative glass colours and bold organic silhouettes. This decanter set exemplifies the studio’s mastery, combining functionality with sculptural presence. The tortoiseshell motif was a signature experiment of the period, symbolising both luxury and modernity within Italian decorative arts of the 1960s.
