Antique French Pale Blue Sevres Paris Porcelain Ormolu Vase Coupe Garniture 1915
About the Item
Antique, 3 piece French 'Sevres' style Porcelain de Paris & gilt-bronze garniture, signed, circa 1915.
The garniture comprising a pair of lidded, twin handled urns & a matching twin handled coupe or bowl. The lidded urns with bronze 'pineapple' finials and each is finely hand-painted with a floral cartouche & signed by the artist "Paul", both urns with ormolu twin handles and raised on an ormolu base. The coupe with an ormolu rim and twin ormolu handles, the interior of the coupe is painted with a panel of hand-painted roses. The front of the coupe having a corresponding hand-painted & gilded floral cartouche, also signed by the artist, the coupe raised on a gilt-bronze base.
Marked to the base "handpainted" & "Made in France" with a pseudo Sevres Mark, the garniture was evidently made for the American market with "Made In" required by the amended McKinley Import Tariff in 1914.
Condition of the urns and coupe are very good, no damage or restoration noted.
