Late 19th Century Blue Opaline and Gilt Bohemian Glass Ewers, Matching Pair

About the Item

A refined matching pair of late 19th-century Bohemian or Czech glass ewers crafted from marbled pale blue opaline glass encased in clear glass. Each ewer features a large, rounded base, tapering into a slender neck, ending in a gracefully ruffled lip and spout—a classic Victorian era glassware design. The pale blue opaline glass is adorned with Bohemian-style motifs in applied gold, with the flared lip and base enhanced by a hand-painted gold border. Each ewer also has a gilt glass handle, highlighting the European craftsmanship typical of decorative glass for the French market in the 19th century. Standing 29 cm tall with a diameter of 14 cm, this elegant garniture set reflects Europe’s fascination with luxurious, hand-decorated antique glassware. Both pieces are in good condition for their age, with some fading and wear to the applied gold decoration on the body and handles.
