Red Ceramic and Gilt Bronze Antique Ewer Urn
About the Item
A very ornate French antique ewer urn with a gleaming, red ceramic jug body and gilt bronze foot and trimmings, dating from the beginning of the 20th century and modelled on the Renaissance style. This striking piece would originally have formed part of a three-piece set for decorating and adding grandeur to a very large and ornate mantel piece, joining a second, matching ewer on either side of a very grand planter, with all three most probably set in front of a large mirror to highlight the scene. Please note, the ewer is not hollow inside, so is purely for decorative purposes. It does have some small signs of wear, including to the gilding and a small imperfection on the handle.
