About the Item
A set of satin polished garnitures with ormolu or gilt bronze mounts , The exceptional crispness of well chased realistic mounts in form of floral garlands or festoons joined at each side with Bacchian masks. The gilding probably mercury fire gilt and with rich lemon color and polished areas of sparkle .The urn of pure white ,unveined marble polished to a very smooth satin sheen with a pearlescent glow .
The urns have been cleaned , see last three photos of the series , one urn clean one urn not yet cleaned .
Evidence exists that these were at one time converted to lamps and converted back to garnitures . The current support rods are suggestive of electrical wiring .
Light rubbing to the ormolu or gilt bronze bleeding the darker bronze base metal. In scattered and very limited areas. Possibly 18th century but without paperwork of origin nor any marking , its noted probably The beginning of 'Ancien Regime' craze marking the Bourbons return .
